Seeing a need for more equality in her local music scene, education graduate Sally Balhorn followed her instincts and launched Girls Rock! Melbourne, a not-for-profit organisation that aims to empower female, trans and gender non-binary youth in music.
In December 2016, Swinburne students and staff became crew members on the Tenacious, a fully wheelchair accessible tall ship that integrates people of all abilities into their crew. Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) student Adam Todd gave us a run-down of what went down on board.

We were fortunate to have Swinburne graduate Sam Bashiry share his story with us during our Welcome Tree planting ceremony. Sam came to Australia from Iran when he was ten years old and after studying at Swinburne, he went on to establish the successful business, Broadband Solutions.
