As one of SSAA’s independent academic advocates, Jessica New wants to help students get the most from their studies.

As a university student, you’ll soon learn that a good quality coffee can be the difference between a pass and a fail. Hawthorn is home to some of Melbourne’s best coffee, the dead set nicest baristas you’ll ever meet and more milk alternatives than you can poke your man bun at. Our biased café picks are Oscar Mike (Bean Hunter’s Top Hawthorn Café), AlleyTunes (coffee as good as their music), The Little Tuckshop (new kids on the block) and Axil Coffee Roasters (Good Café Guide 2013: Best Coffee), although don’t forget Haddons or Café Gomez are on campus if you’re pressed for time but refuse to compromise on quality.

Timothy Bennett and Sarah McPherson joined Swinburne’s Corporate and Government Affairs team (CGA), in January 2015. We caught up with these bright-eyed and bushy-tailed aspiring professionals to talk about their experience.
Congratulations to the Class of 2015!
We’ve loved seeing all of your moments shared with #SwinGrad, and Swinburne Alumni have an awesome album of photo booth fun on their Facebook page.
Today for lunch, we ate healthy servings of free tacos and donuts while Aimee Francis and Ben Whiting played beautiful music for us (our thanks to the SSAA for organising).

Swinburne’s student-run radio station and media collective, 3SSR, is celebrating 40 years on air in 2015. As one of the University’s oldest student clubs, 3SSR Radio started life on the Hawthorn campus as 3SW in 1975.

So in case you’ve missed the bus shelters and social media posts, our Open Day is coming pretty shortly. Sunday August 2, to be exact. And aside from all the awesome activities that will be happening, we’re also hosting a Swinburne Marketplace for the first time.
